Fiddle workshops

As well as one-to-one lessons, and online classes, I also teach traditional fiddle workshops in Bristol.

The next workshops will take place as part of 2021 Féile an Fidil fiddle festival, at the Star in Fishponds, Bristol, on the 28th and 29th August.

The workshop on the 28th, from 3-4.30pm will be for beginner to intermediate players. This will suit people who can already play the fiddle to a basic level. We will learn a couple of simple tunes by ear, phrase by phrase, and then look at how we can give them some ‘lilt’ through bowing and some of the simpler ornaments.

The workshop on the 29th, from 12 noon – 1.30pm, will be for intermediate to advanced players. Perhaps you have been playing for some time but would like to improve your technique, learn some new ornamentation, or just learn some interesting tunes. This workshop will suit people who can already play the fiddle to a decent level, and perhaps have some experience learning tunes by ear. We will learn a couple of unusual tunes, and work on phrasing, bowing and ornamentation.

I am looking to start a regular weekend workshop for intermediate players, probably during the day at the weekend. If you would like to receive information about future workshops, please sign up to my mailing list.
