My name is Bradon Smith, I am a fiddle player and Irish fiddle teacher in Bristol, UK. I play traditional Irish, Scots and English music on the fiddle, and am a well known player on the Irish session scene in London, Bristol and Bath. I play regularly with a ceilidh band in Bristol and the South West. I give traditional fiddle lessons in Bristol, and online, for players of all standards from complete beginners to advanced players. I have 1000s of hours of one-to-one teaching experience, and excellent student feedback; currently I have 31 regular students. I also teach workshops on Irish fiddle playing.

If you would like live Irish or Scottish traditional music at your wedding, birthday, or garden party I am available for performances — on solo fiddle, or with a band — for all kinds of events. If you would like a full ceilidh with dancing, I can arrange a band (3, 4 or 5 musicians plus a dance caller) to suit your requirements. Please contact me regarding performances.

Before teaching Irish fiddle full-time, I was an academic, working on the representation of climate change and energy in contemporary literature. You can find out more about my academic work here.

I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, an internationally recognized accreditation of quality and professionalism in higher education teaching.

Away from my teaching, I like leatherwork, foraging, wild-swimming, wood-carving and that sort of thing. I make leather items of all kinds for sale, and am available for commisions if you have something special in mind. I am also available to teach workshops on leatherwork.
